National Science Week Competition 2025
Calling all Young Antarctic Researchers - Decoding space with Antarctica
This National Science Week, the Antarctic Science Foundation (ASF) invites Young Antarctic Researchers to explore the connection between the Antarctic and space. You, your team, or even your entire school class can win an Antarctic-themed pack for your class.
In our presentation, we delve into fascinating facts about Antarctica and uncover its surprising connection to outer space. We learn how this icy, remote continent serves as a testing ground for space missions through analog research, helping scientists prepare for journeys to the Moon and Mars. We explore why Antarctica is the world’s premier location for finding meteorites, how its unique environment makes it an ideal spot for astronomy, and the crucial role satellites play in advancing Antarctic science by monitoring climate and environmental changes.
Competition:
Opens: Monday, 14 July 2025
Closes: Sunday, 17 August 2025
Winners will be announced on Monday, 25 August 2025, and winner packs will be shipped to your school.
